OptiMate 4 charger - 12V lead-acid / 12.8V lithium battery

The OptiMate 4 battery charger keeps your battery fully charged and healthy. It is weatherproof (IP54 certified) and designed for use down to -40°C / -40°F. Caution: never use a frozen battery.

The product is supplied with :

- a battery cable that adapts to your vehicle's battery for convenient access to quick-connect charging
- two battery clamps compatible with square, round or flat battery terminals.
- a suspension hook for hanging the charger from the handlebars.

Compatibility of the OptiMate 4 battery charger

You can easily service your 12V battery, including lead-acid (Pb) > STD (with filler caps), AGM and GEL (VRLA sealed) and Li-Ion batteries made with LiFePO4/LFP technology.

It is not suitable for nicd, nimh, any other li-ion or non-rechargeable batteries.

The OptiMate 4 battery charger is compatible with the CAN bus on BMW motorbikes, with automatic activation.

The 4 programmes of the OptiMate 4 charger

The OptiMate 4 charger has four charging programmes:

Programme 1 - Pb (LED #1a):  Direct charge programme for a lead-acid battery in all conditions. All programme functions are active, including the TURBO and PULSE high-voltage desulphation modes.

Program 2 - Pb (LED #1a) + CAN-bus (LED #2): Automatically activates charging of a lead-acid battery via the
12V socket on vehicles fitted with a CAN-bus controlled 12V socket, to charge, test and maintain a healthy
when the vehicle is in storage. All desulphation modes are deactivated.

Program 3 - LFP (LED #1b): Direct charge program for a LiFePO4 (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) battery in all conditions. Use this programme to reset a battery fitted with an integrated battery management system (BMS) that protects against deep discharge.

Program 4 - LFP (LED #1b) + CAN-bus (LED #2): Automatically activates charging via the 12V socket on vehicles equipped with a CAN-bus controlled 12V socket, to charge, test and maintain a healthy LiFePO4 when the vehicle is in storage.

The product features a recovery programme with intelligent desulphation, enabling ‘completely flat’ sulphated batteries to be saved, down to 0.5V for lead-acid batteries. It is also designed with energy-saving technology, with standby power of less than 0.5W. This product also tests the operating state of the battery to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Additional information on the OPTIMATE 4 battery charger

The charging time for a 12Ah battery would need less than 12h to complete the discharge test. This time can be considerably higher for deeply discharged batteries.

The OptiMate 4 is designed to maintain a continuous battery (24-7): it can be left safely connected to a healthy battery for months at a time.
