This BGS valve honing tool with 2 suction cups (16 and 21mm) allows manual honing of valves before reassembly. This type of tool seals the valve and valve seat. Please note that it requires the use of a lapping paste.

How to use the BGS valve honing tool

Start by placing the cylinder head upside down on a workbench and applying a little lapping compound to the valve seats. Replace each valve in the cylinder head through the valve guide. This operation is made easier if, when you dismantled your cylinder head, you took care to mark the location of each valve. This is not a problem with new valves.

When the valves are in place, you can place the suction cup of the rod under each valve and rotate it rapidly between the palms of your hands (hands open) in a reciprocating motion (similar to lighting a fire with a small branch). It is not necessary to press on the valve during this movement.

Repeat this movement as necessary until you obtain an even flat on the edge of the valve and a corresponding flat on the valve seat.

Proceed in this way on each valve, taking care not to miss any, then carefully clean off any lapping compound residue before final reassembly.
